One thing thats true is that buying aged domains can save you a lot more than just headaches. take a look at Vic as a prime example. (You know I love picking o you buddy) buying a new domain can get you thrown in the sandbox for a while which sucks, so one way to take advantage of a preowned domain is to look at the existing cached google pages. If you are not making use of these, then you might not be getting the full potential out of the domain.
A lot of times these pages have inlinks. Why would you allow a page that has inlinks, age and authority slip through the cracks? It’s better to make use of them as I mention in the video so that you can pass juice on to other pages of your site that you create and make full use of whats already there.

Re - age. How old do you think is good (is older, better?).
Like check out TDNAM right now - there are two domains that are 11, two domains 10 and quite a few domains that are nine years old. The first one has six cached pages, however the domains don’t really mean anything (for example, the two 11 year old domains are axess-ins.com & coaltrans-online.com. There is also a 9 year old one with some residual traffic, but again worthless (in terms of keywords) - any use for the above three?
Hey Justin very cool site. I am very interested to hear more of what you have to say. I have been reading Court and Vic for a long time as there are always tons of things to learn from people that are successful. You come highly recommended by Vic so obviously I am very curious to learn from you also. I do have a couple of specific questions about your experience with two different sofwares.
The first one would be BANS. I I have owned BANS for about a week and have setup 2 sites already. I obviously want to setup many more and I am curious what you feel is the best way to pick good BANS niches and any techniques that have helped you to make money with BANS.
The second would be BMD. I was curious to know how much using this software has helped you get your websites going.
Again I am excited to see more videos from you and what your take on things are. Sorry for the long question.
Btw, I just got my first pre-owned(PR0) this week. It is 5 years old with 37 cache page. Future Bans site when eBay give me my affiliate ID.
About age, I know it’s true from experience with mcgrath.ca. It was created on 2000/11/09. It was use for email until last summer and now, I’m first page on many keywords. No sandbox for it
Too bad because it was created in 1998 but they reseted all .ca in 2000
Off topic: Do you use hostgator with a reseller account for your web empire? I send them an email(Monday) but they(sales) did not replied to me. What kind of support will I get when they don’t answer future clients?
Hey Justin, nice to see you are doing the video’s too. Here is a question for you already: knowing that you got lots of advice from Vic and Griz and Court, what would you say is the most valuable thing you’ve learned from them that most of us under estimate?
I know you came up through the ranks from nothing and now you are doing pretty damn good so…what was the turning point for you?
Justin: Add “Subscribe to thread” plugin when you have a minute beside getting links
I also went to Live Chat to get my answers from hostgator. Really professional on that front.
Steve - I will talk more about this in the next video after this one coming up.
Michael - Yes I will be talking about those exact things in the next video.
Steve - Congrats on the pre owned domain! As far as web hosting, I have other accounts with SEOhosting.com and the account this is on is pretty old. I had it before I went to HostGator. I do want to say that I will be more than happy to help you with your Hosting question, but I will not be answering questions on HostGator here. This is a make money blog, so I dont want to get sidetracked from that.
Chris - How about I add that to the next video.
EVERYONE - Ok I need to add a few more plugins, thanks Steve. There is a lot to do still yet.
Thanks for taking the time to share what you have learnt, Justin!
A question if you don’t mind, I’m trying this out and noticed that a lot of the pre owned domains that are still indexed and have cached results in Google, their cached pages are all showing parked pages. Useless?
Also, just wanted to make sure about this as I suddenly remembered - buying pre owned domains - if you do a search and they’re not indexed in Google, as good (useless) as a new domain?
Good stuff! A couple of questions I’ve been wondering about pre-owned domains.
What’s the best way to research pre-owned domains? Just tdnam? Or do you have any other tools or resources you use to check the value of an old domain.
Tevin: I took the plunge and bought SEOElite. That’s the option I’m recommending in my 1 free ebook for those that want to go “faster”. You can always wait for Vic’s review about SeoQuake.
How much for a pre-owned? What your budget allow you. For example, I started bidding on one but it went to $215. I got one for $10 with a PR4 but it was fake(did note have SEOelite then but it showed PR4 too). It still had seo possibilities in the name for a Bans. I would suggest to start low and get more domains. Plus, it’s $10+ and 10.19(fee) on tdnam
I’ve meaning to ask Vic about this, but since you are into this today, I might as well get the info from you.
I bought a few aged domains for my Bans site and most gets some hits from Google after one or two days after I have it up. However there is one that only get hits from MSN Search and none from Google. Do you think this particular one has been banned or blacklisted by Google?
Thanks. And BTW, I won’t be coming back so often after this.
I just subscribed! LOL. Buthen, I’ll still have to come back for my answers i guess.
Costa, it is possible that it is sandboxed, but once again a new site will flop around. Just like the initial burst you get when you start a BANS site. It is new and Google may give it a bit of a boost for a short period and then it may disappear for a while. Just keep building links and working new sites all the time. This is why Vic and NOW myself are so focused on making many sites. The fact is some will get sandboxed by Google. You will also want to check the site to see what it may have been used for before you buy it at archive.org. This can show you a past history of a domain.
One question. I have a chance to buy old expiring domain that was used as article directory. There are 1500 indexed pages.
And question is: Is it actually legal that I set up the site with the same links and content just to make use of those good old authority pages? Is there a boundary I should not cross?
James - It really is hard to tell you one way or the other because I am not an attorney, but i can tell you this. A lot of those articles are just repeats. I do not see any real harm in this, but I am not sure it would be worth your time recreating these pages. this can take a long time, and the site is not really keyword focused.
Article directories are not big money makers unless they are well established, and I am sure sites like ezine articles and goarticles make some money but generally most articles are just a rehash on article directories. I would say don’t waste your time to make it another article directory.
Jason - In reality a domain no matter what the name can be used for anything, but it is best of course if you can get a domain that has cached pages somewhat related to the niche you will be working. But thats not a set rule. Any domain can be used for anything.
Great to see you took the plunge and you already came up with a killer post. I didn’t know about the cache and never checked that, so thanks for the heads up.
Costa - One thing to remember of MSN search traffic is that it’s often from total computer/Internet noobs. That’s because many PC makers have it installed at the factory as the default search engine in IE and with MSN as the default start page. New PC users rarely change it to Google because they’re lazy or just don’t know how.
And, since MSN’s indexing algorithm sucks as compared to Google, this means that you might get a lot of MSN trickle traffic while Google has you sandboxed or buried on page 48.

Great tip Justin. I would not have known how to do that. This will really help me when I buy pre-owned domains.

How do you find the age of a domain?

Hi Justin,
Great Site!

Keep up the good work mate.
Costa: You can check the domain here for blacklist
http://whois.domaintools.com
Check “Blacklist Status:” in the “Server Data” but I don’t know if they refer to Google.
