I tell people just as Vic has already said, that in order to make money blogging with adsense, you have to write basically junk. There are really two options you have for making an adsense blog. The way you write them will decide possibly getting more or fewer clicks.

You can write pretty decent content which may help you to get some link exchanges from strangers, or you can write downright crap content which will help you to get more clicks. Why do I say this? Its been covered a bunch already, but let me give you examples and hopefully help you to see the light, or if your a fellow zombie, then the darkness.

I am going to give you two different introductory paragraphs to read, and you tell me which of the two you might actually like to continue reading.

Making money blogging is the sweetest career choice I could have ever made and I want to show you how you can be successful too and make money blogging with my free tips and tricks.

or

I haven’t yet really mastered making money online and I don’t have much advice but I will try to come up with a few things for you and maybe you might do better than me at making money blogging.

Now lets be honest here folks, the last one was a bit less desirable than the first. Would you have any desire after reading the fact that I told you I haven’t made any money online blogging? Your reaction would be more like, “this guy is a loser, let me get out of here. Now where to go to leave this stupid blog!” So do you get the point now? If someone reads the first paragraph which could grab their attention to read more, then forget it. Congratulations!! You got a reader, and maybe he will subscribe to your feed rather than click on your ads.

So what you should really be doing is making people want to leave. People that come back to read information don’t click on ads, and since we are getting organic traffic, so what if that guy never comes back. He clicked on your ad right? And that my friends is what gets you paid.

So in conclusion, don’t write spam but don’t write high quality stuff either if you are working an adsense niche. The key lies within the first paragraph of pretty much any niche blog whether you will get a click on an ad or not, so don’t blow it!!

What are you waiting for go write some junk!

A completely worthless post if you ask me - keep up the good work ROTFL! Proper question though: when do you monetize with either links to your money sites or affiliate link ads - is this OK to do sooner rather than later especially if you are targetting qualified traffic rather than organic?

  8. Lamach May 23rd, 2008 at 11:42 am

Thats funny Rhonda….but! I believe I can beat your crap comment, by responding to your comment with crap. How do I get outta here! Wait, theres an ad!

WOW! Finally had 6 hours sleep and I feel so refreshed. Ok heres my questions on writing junk to make money. Actually this pertains to writng articles for backlinks but I thought I would stick it here.

We write articles to get anchored backlinks to our site not traffic. Correct? The more backlinks the more our sites rank and the more money we make with adsense. So does it matter if we write junk for article submissions? I need to write a ton of articles and quite frankly it would take me forever to write quality articles. And article writing is one area I suck at BIG TIME!

I hope you have time to answer this cause today is the day I have time to write articles.

  12. NikeGolf May 23rd, 2008 at 5:58 pm

My questions exactly. I’m stuck on article writing because I’m a lousy writer. Is mediocre writing ok for them?

  13. YC May 24th, 2008 at 12:18 am

For article writing, just get similar ones from the article directories and rewrite them. That way you do not have to overthink on whether your content is good enough for them or not. I believe it was Frank of OpTempo who suggested to get two articles (from directories) on the topic and basically mix and match and rewrite. I usually just take one article and rewrite the whole thing, saying the same thing in a different way, never had a problem with the articles being accepted.

I have been kicking around the idea of sending this post to all my former teachers who told me I needed to do quality writing in order to succeed in life. LOL

While I am at it maybe I should track down the teacher who docked me for not listing Pluto as a planet — turns out I was right. Is it too late for them to change my grades from the 70s? hmmm.

I’ve been tinkering with the idea of doing my first purely bad blog. I’ve tried a few nice ones that just turned out bad; making one intentionally bad should be better for my ego if not my AdSense account. Off to Crapland…

  16. Justin May 24th, 2008 at 3:22 am

Remember the key is in the intro paragraph of the blog. This is where someone 90% of the time will make a decision to read more or not. That should tell them you don’t have anything good to offer them.

  17. Justin May 24th, 2008 at 3:24 am

Rhonda its a funny thing isnt it? How writing junky can turn out better for you with business.

  18. Justin May 24th, 2008 at 3:25 am

Bruce, I have noticed I am writing a lot worse than i used to and im not sure if thats a good thing or not cause it definitely makes me more money.

Great, more junk content on the Internet, that’ s what we need. It is not a question of writing junk, it is a question of giving the visitor few options. You said and I quote:
“If someone reads the first paragraph which could grab their attention to read more, then forget it. Congratulations!! You got a reader, and maybe he will subscribe to your feed rather than click on your ads.”
Now tell me, who would be stupid enough to put a “subscribe to my feed” option on an adsense blog?
The visitor is going to leave your website either you have good or bad content, it is just a matter of the options you are giving your visitor. Your job is to give him one option only, and that’s clicking on the ad.
And maybe if you have good content, he will return for a read and click again.

  20. Justin May 24th, 2008 at 9:18 pm

I think you are missing the point here and just trying to act as if you have some type of superior knowledge. If I wasn’t getting over 30% CTR on adsense I don’t think I would be posting this. Once again this is where a know it all comes and tries to talk mess. Ahh, and yet another person who is too scared to post their real name or website. If you don’t have the guts to show who you are then don’t ever come back here and act like you know anything.

  21. Stuart May 24th, 2008 at 9:36 pm

Dude, you’re suffering from Vic-mania and maybe some sort of depression. I don’t have the guts to tell you my name? You’re fucking ridiculous. Why wouldn’t I have the guts to tell you my name? Because you would come for me? LOL. OK, you can call me Stuart.
So, Justin, may I call you Justin? You haven’t really answered my question you just beat it around the bush the Vic style. So, who would be stupid enough to put a feed option on an adsense blog? Ah, maybe you are? You should be grateful cos I gave you a piece of advice.
As for the 30% stuff, you don’t really have any proof. I have 50% CTR, there you go. But I know your type. You are the type that doesn’t make more than $1000 / month from adsense.
I will not talk to you any longer cos you are all too victified. Do as you please, write junk content, throw yourself against a rock, I don’t care. You will sure as hell not be making real money.
    Happy victification.

  22. Justin May 25th, 2008 at 1:10 am

You moron your not welcome here. I spend a lot of time helping people for no charge. Your just another scammer, and thankyou for reading my blog I,m sure I have taught you some things. Once again you are not welcome here. And as far as the feed, sure sometimes I take the time to take it off and sometimes I don’t, either way they are not interested in my feed you idiot cause I don’t write in a way they would. And another thing, you still don’t have the balls to really show who you are, so until your willing to come out of hiding you idiot, then don’t come back. As far as Vic you are probably just a secret follower. Don’t bother on this blog anymore. I don’t come to your blog and disrespect you.

  23. Stuart May 25th, 2008 at 9:06 am

Dude, you’ve really got issues. You are not capable of conducting a proper conversation. The minute someone contradicts you, all you have to say is that the person is a know it all and that you don’t want the person on the blog.
All I wanted was a civil conversation with arguments, on my first post. Then you started bashing me for no reason, because you CAN’T handle a conversation based on arguments.
As for my name, my name is Stuart, you don’t know me, and I am definitely not a scammer because I don’t sell anything and I am not looking for a base of followers.
Have a good day and good luck in your endeavors.

  24. Stuart May 25th, 2008 at 9:14 am

Ah, and one more thing: no I am not a Vic follower, and no, you haven’t taught me anything. The stuff that’s revelation to you I’ve eaten it on a bread years ago when you didn’t even know what your name was.
You would better start being able to handle a civil conversation, because this attitude will only hurt you in the long run.
That being said, bye bye and good luck.

  25. Justin May 25th, 2008 at 9:59 am

I already told you your not welcome here jerk. You also said and I quote, “I will not talk to you any longer cos you are all too victified.” If thats the case then quit wasting your time here. The next comments you start leaving I am going to delete them. I don’t have time for punks like you who have nothing better to do than go to someones blog and disrespect them. And no, your first comment was negative and talking down to me, so as I said before you are not welcome here so leave already and go bother someone else.

If you make any more responses i am going to just delete them so don’t waste your hand.

I have a question about writing junk. (I’m no expert at adsense, all of my successful sites run affiliate ads where CTR isn’t a concern)
What about the risk of getting noticed by Google due to your high CTR, then they give you a visual and notice you’re pulling the same stunt on 50 sites. Doesn’t this risk your Adsense account?

I know Vic promotes the same thing you’re saying here and it makes logical sense. (and I believe that it will result in a higher CTR) but I fear putting my Adsense account on the line.

I feel like Vic and you make it seem like writing crap is the only way to go, and talk down about bloggers who spend quality time on their content. Well, people like Court approach Adsense sites in a very different way (and he seems to be a very successful IM/SEO). He says not to write bad content:
    http://courtneytuttle.com/2008/04/01/top-10-keyword-sniping-mistakes/
Court’s approach seems to be to make legit sites, with normal colors, and provide good content. Vic on the other hand is about dark backgrounds, matching colors, and making the reader want to leave.

I’m not saying you’re wrong, but its frustrating to have two highly qualified bloggers giving different advice.

  27. Justin May 26th, 2008 at 9:16 pm

Justin I really appreciate your honest feelings on this and I understand what you mean buddy, but let me say it like this…

The most important part about this junk content post that I wrote has to do mainly with the first paragraph. It doesn’t mean that the whole thing has to be junk because I probably already lost the click if they went past my first paragraph only because I personally don’t put adsense at the bottom of a page. So let me tell you then. I do put some semi-valuable content within the post, put I always make sure the first sentence or two tells the readers that they will not find their answer at that particular site.

My CTR has only gone higher since I have actually implemented this on a number of blogs. I’m sorry but I am in this to make money and for people to click on ads. Not for people to read my articles and leave.

It is really up to you how you do it, but I would much rather ride the fence then be on one side or the other. I will provide ok to decent content with a crappy intro, and thats just why I get a lot more clicks than other people. good read for free.

Thats all there is to it buddy. I am not saying to spam, all I am saying is don’t give solutions or other outlets.

  28. Justin May 26th, 2008 at 10:35 pm

Cool, thanks Justin. Was sitting on the fence on this and was a little iffy about putting my account on the line (can never be too paranoid imo) but I see what you mean. Thanks man =)

Another thing about junk content that has happened to me is that sometime is stirs up some visitors enough to post a comment — free content. On a couple occasions I have had people post comments just to correct me or say that I should “do more investigation” because my writing just sucked so bad. LOL. I love the free content it brings.

I see you’ve taken this approach to all your posts! Now how the heck do I get out of here?
    :P just kidding
